Assistant Coach Joshua Heiliger

Current Team

Cleveland Mambas Family,

My name is Joshua Heiliger.

Most of you know me from previous seasons at GCAA.  But either way, I have been an assistant coach for every season since 2017 (8U, 10U, 12U 13U, and 14U).  I have even helped coach some of the GCAA all-star teams in both official and unofficial capacities.  I can be very passionate on the bench and some of you have probably witnessed it in the past.

I have been into basketball since I was 7 years old when my family lived in Illinois (during Chicago’s many championships).  This is where I got the itch.  We moved to South Carolina when I was in Junior High School.  I played basketball in high school at Clover High School in Clover, SC.  Fun fact, I thought I was good enough to try out for Clemson University as a walk-on when I was a freshman.  Clearly that didn’t work out for me.  I like to watch mostly college basketball and we definitely like to frequent the middle school and high school basketball games.

My wife, Nathalia, and I have one son, Nathaniel (Nathan).  He attends Cleveland Middle School, he is on the Mambas team, and plays Travel Soccer with Cleveland United Arsenal (09 team).  He has also played Travel basketball for two other organizations since 2018.  Another fun fact, I am a drilling reservist in the Navy and is the primary reason I have not committed to being a head coach with GCAA.

Again, I look forward to helping in anyway I can and how these boys will develop on the court.
